With just a day away from Oculus hosting its second annual Oculus Connect developers conference in Hollywood, California, Oculus founder Palmer Luckey made sure to lower expectations and diminish any hopes of pre-order for the Oculus Rift CV1 during the event.

According to a post on Reddit, Luckey set the record straight on a few things to the VR community in advance before the ‘Connect’ conference kicks off tomorrow.

“To cut to the chase: We won’t be launching Rift preorders during the show, so don’t wear out your F5 key while you are watching the keynote!” said Luckey.

“I would not normally make this kind of post, especially since it is not really news or a change in plan (I publicly talked about this with several media outlets as early as E3 and Gamescom), but I want to make sure nobody is disappointed or surprised.”

Luckey also pointed out that Oculus Connect is meant to focus primarily as, “…a developer show first, enthusiast show second, consumer show third.”

However, that doesn’t mean Oculus won’t have a few exciting surprises to reveal to everyone during the big event. Luckey went on to say, “There will be some consumer-facing announcements, but all in the context of their relevance to developers and the growing VR ecosystem. We will be announcing and co-announcing some really cool stuff.”

For now, we’ll just have to wait and see. Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe will be first to take the stage tomorrow at 10am PST, including keynotes by Chief Scientist Michael Abrash and CTO John Carmack all will be live-streamed via the official Oculus Twitch channel.
