Earlier this week, during the Oculus Connect 2 keynote presentation in Hollywood, California, the company announced it will be releasing the software development kits (SDK) version 1.0 of both the PC SDK for Rift and Mobile SDK for Gear VR later this year.

Oculus is preparing the Mobile SDK 1.0 release with the upcoming launch of the new consumer edition of Samsung’s Gear VR headset in November—with the PC SDK 1.0 for Rift set to be released by this December.

Oculus VP of Product Development Nate Mitchell also confirmed that all game titles built on the PC SDK 1.0 will be compatible with the Oculus Rift when it ships early next year, as well as compatible with future versions of the Rift runtime.

According to Oculus, the Touch SDK is also currently in the works and is planned to be coming soon, however, no specific time frame has been announced on when the developer kit hardware of the Oculus Touch will be made available to developers prior to the consumer release in Q2 of 2016.
